The documentary film by Ugandan singer-songwriter and politician Bobi Wine exposes the tales of the chaotic general elections in Uganda in 2021.
Within the following 48 hours, it will make its broadcast debut on the American channel National Geographic. This was confirmed by NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

The film, which was based on actual events, depicts brief incidents of the violence that marred Uganda’s deadly national elections in 2021. For the past 40 years, the same people have been in charge of the nation.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, one of Africa’s longest-serving presidents, is 78 years old. In 2017, musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine decided to challenge him.

Bobi had to take on all the pressure and difficulties his predecessor experienced in order to confront President Museveni.

Supporters of Bobi Wine were brutalised and killed during the campaigns in a state-approved campaign.

In Eastern Uganda’s Luuka area, his arrest sparked two days of bloodshed between November 18 and 19, 2020. According to a BBC investigation and the documentary “Three Killings in Kampala,” this is the case.

By the time the violence ended, dozens had been deliberately killed by security forces. The government placed the toll at 54 despite Bobi placing the toll at over 100.

It is sad that since that time, no single security commander has been prosecuted for the killings.

Similarly, the victims have not received any justice or compensation despite the government making pledges.

At one point in time, the entire NUP team got arrested as Bobi Wine made his way to Kalangala district to extend his campaigns.

In some districts, they denied him accommodation services, and often times hosts asked to vacate. All these injustices are well highlighted in the documentary film titled “People’s President”.

“After reviewing the movie, the guys at NatGeo opted to rename it from Bobi Wine; the Ghetto President to the ‘People’s President. The movie will premiere on the National Geographic channel. The world shall see some of the things Gen. Museveni has been hiding and concealing for all these decades. It is a pinch of the much we waded through on our journey to freedom,”
