As the online music streaming platform, Spotify is celebrating Ugandan music. The company decided to add three(3) curated playlists showcasing the vast array of talent across the Pearl of Africa.
Since its launch in Uganda last year, the platform highlighted Uganda’s best artists whom they added to the playlists.
These three playlists are available to both Freemium and Premium Spotify users and are the first of many to come.
Top Uganda Spotify Playlists 2022
1. Mutima
Mutima translates to heart in Luganda and is focused on R&B and Afro-Soul music originating from Uganda. This playlist sits in the R&B hub and Mood spaces, available in Africa and the rest of the world to all Spotify users. If you are feeling a little mellow and would like to get your spirits up, then this is definitely the playlist for you. The playlist has artists like Maurice Kirya, Kenneth Mugabi, Joshua Baraka, Kamanzii and more.
2. Kindandali
The second playlist, Kidandali Parte, is a dancehall-inspired playlist that in the local language translates as a ragga/dancehall party. Although the Ugandan musicians on the playlist draw inspiration from Dancehall, they have also given the music a distinctively Ugandan flavour. When this playlist is playing, the party never ends, so you better put your dance shoes on.
3. Made in Uganda
The final playlist is Made In Uganda, which showcases the country’s rich culture and homegrown talent. This playlist is not genre-specific, instead, you will find the hottest hits making the airwaves in and out of the country. And with the new Spotify lyrics feature, anyone can sing along like a local.
